Dr Billie Hunter is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist offering a private assessment and therapy service for adults and adolescents (12 years +) on the Isle of Wight. She has over 20 years experience of working with people with a range of emotional or psychological problems. Dr Hunter is registered with the Health Care and Professionals Council (HCPC) and the British Psychological Society (BPS) and therefore adheres to a strict code of conduct and ethical principles.
Therapy is available for those who may be experiencing a range of emotional or psychological difficulties including:
- Anxiety disorders: panic attacks, agoraphobia, social anxiety, phobias, obsessional or compulsive behaviours (OCD), health anxiety
- Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Depression or low mood
- Stress
- Low self esteem
- Childhood abuse or trauma
- Eating disorders: anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating,
- Sexual problems
- Bereavement
- Adjustment issues relating to life events or physical ill health
- Pain management
- Anger management
- Relationship difficulties
As an integrative practitioner, Dr Hunter does not subscribe to one exclusive style of treatment. She has had training in a number of therapeutic orientations including:
- Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
- Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Psychodynamic psychotherapy.
- Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)
- Transactional Analysis (TA)
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
Dr Hunter has also taken additional training to help inform her work with those individuals on the autistic spectrum.
