Dr Billie Hunter (BA, BSc, DClinPsy, AFBPsS, CPsychol) offers a private assessment and therapy service for adults and adolescents based on the Isle of Wight. She holds a first class honours degree in Psychology and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Wales, Bangor. She specialises in Adult Mental Health and has experience of working with a wide range of psychological difficulties. Her specialist areas of interest include: eating disorders, post natal depression and post traumatic stress disorder.
She began her career working with vulnerable adolescents in 1997 before moving into forensic psychology in 1999 working with high risk male prisoners with emotional management issues. In 2003 she began her clinical training which covered four core areas of clinical psychology including: adult mental health, older persons, child and adolescent, and learning disabilities. In her final year of training she specialised in psychodynamic psychotherapy for adults although she maintains a varied interest in a number of different therapy styles. Her doctoral thesis looked at trauma symptoms in young children exposed to domestic violence.
Dr Hunter is committed to continuing professional development (CPD) and receives regular clinical supervision for her work.
